Villa Maroc in Essaouira - Clients

As good as Dar Anebar, albeit a universe away in terms of ambience. A very big place but so wonderfully higgledy piggledy that you only notice the fascinating nooks and crannies. The many differently styled rooms in which you could choose to dine, read, have a drink etc. mean it's almost like staying in a different hotel every night. Brilliant location. A large operation when set against the other places but they've managed to keep a personal feel and imbued the old buildings with immense character. Charming, despite its size. C.E. in April 2010
Very nice, informal, extremely polite staff, a great position and good food. Essaouira is a must for one/two days for anyone planning a varied itinerary. The town is very clean and relaxed compared with the bustle of Marrakech. A lunch at one of trhe fish restaurants in the Port is an experience. C.A. in March 2010
A nice place to stay but very impersonal. Rating 3/5 J.N in March 2010
The staff were particularly helpful but there was a lack of hot water on the final day (room 12). The hot water bottle each night was a nice touch when the room was cool. B.S. in March 2010
We loved Essaoria after the madness of Marrakech. Our room in Villa Maroc (number 11 ) overlooked the roof of a basket ball court which was extremely noisy with lots of cheering and whistle blowing. One to avoid. A beautiful roof terrace, cosy bar and dining rooms with open fires all added to the atmosphere. Very sociable and we met a great crowd of people which made the holiday .The food was good but I would only book B & B next time as there are so many good places to eat. C.G. in February 2010
Good location. Unique, full of character, could be noisy at times due to rooms all being around a courtyard. Lovely dinners, and breakfast on the roof with great views R.W. in October 2009
This was a lovely location with so much to see and do and the Villa Maroc was delightful.Did not expect to enjoy open fires in July. Sounds petty but drying towels and wet bathing things was difficult due to no where to do it. J.S. in July 2009
A very elegant and comfortable riad (provided you could handle the stairs) with very good dining indeed in candle lit small, virtually private rooms. Very friendly staff. A delightful place T.W. in April 2009
First suite we were shown was disappointing, complained, and the suite we were then given was fantastic. Log fires at night and even candles at breakfast for our very early departure. Lovely staff. P.J. in March 2009
Spot on for visiting Essaouira. Compared to Marrakech and Skoura Riads, a bit on the largish size so attention not so personal. But still fantastic place to stay. Food very very good. R.T in February 2008
Highly recommend this place. It was great and food was superb. Great location and a real retreat from the outside world. Could only say positive things about Villa Maroc. Rooms were great and all atmospheric. A.M. in October 2007
