Tigmi in Marrakech
Special offer to honeymooners
for stays of at least 4 nights |
Tigmi has become Marrakech's first retreat - a place of quietude to listen to silence, slow down and rediscover that precarious sense of wellbeing. The house sits on the brow of a Berber hamlet (Tagadert) in the Haouz plain, positioned between Marrakech and the glorious white-tipped peaks of the High Atlas mountains. It is just 24 kms (15 miles) from the Medieval city, yet a world apart in the peace you will discover.
... read_more...The house, converted from a labyrinthine string of village dwellings, has eight rooms, some air-conditioned, some with fireplaces, built around six separate courtyards. One of the 'rooms' includes two bedrooms with a private courtyard and plunge pool. There is space at every turn - an alcove, covered walkway, terrace, quiet arch, flooded with light, hidden in shadow, hot or cool as the sun passes languidly overhead. There is little to interrupt you: the holler of a shepherd, children playing in the cool alleys of the village.
At Tigmi, life is rich in its simplicity. It has a spiritual quality, a place where guests can enjoy rare serenity. There is a heated pool, views to better any other you can find in Morocco, looking out over a spring flanked with an olive grove to the pink-walled city beyond.
The interiors are meaningfully restrained: organic, white curved walls; eucalyptus ceilings; colourful cushioned banquettes; a splash of saffron, fuchsia or Buddhist orange. Corridors are open to the skies. There's a hammam with massage and gommage treatments on request, breakfast where you want it - in the garden, perhaps, among the birdsong, or by the pool where a swallow darts at its broken reflection. Tigmi Tagadert is a magical, understated place, somewhere to find privacy, poise and a natural balance.

Feedback and reviews
I just wanted to let you know what a truly wonderful holiday we had at Tigmi. It was a magical place where [we] felt incredibly relaxed and at peace. The service was out of this world, they are so humble and kind it makes you feel you want to sit them down and look after them for a day. C.M in December 2007
What a wonderful setting! Here we truly felt relaxed. Surrounded by the Atlas mountains we passed our days watching the birds fly by, or lounging in the many nooks scattered about. It was lovely to see the shepherds go about tending to their flock or while away the hours in contemplation. To further enhance this relaxing experience, I tried the massage and facial which were both fantastic. The service was exceptional and the food was a delight. M.I in October 2007
