... read_more...The Hotel Tichka is a 130-room hotel that was greeted with delight when it opened in 1986 for its tongue-in-cheek take of traditional Moroccan architecture. The high atrium reception area is lovely, while the decor in the two restaurants (stunning palm tree columns in the international one and blue and yellow striped columns in the Moroccan) is striking. There is a gorgeous bar in deep red with a beaten-copper ceiling, and the hotel also boasts one of the best pools in town, set in a well tended garden with lawns and a terrace where a buffet lunch and dinner are served (weather permitting).
Rooms are air-conditioned and have a mini-bar, safety deposit box, telephone and satellite TV, and there is 24-hour room service. Although it is located on the northern edge of town, it takes no more than 10 minutes to get into the Medina (old city) by taxi (the fare is around £4 in a small taxi, in 2009).
The Tichka also has a hammam with massage and gommage treatments. There is a news-stand / boutique at the entrance to the hotel.

Not keen on the location or the hotel -- OK for the transfer though and really good food -- unexpectedly so. I recommend their international restaurant. Attentive service. Just hated being in a hotel after such wonderful traditional accommodation. J.F. in june 2009
