Riad Kaiss in Marrakech
A small Marrakech riad, the Riad Kaiss was designed by the very talented French architect, Christian Ferre and is now owned by his 3 children.
... read_more...There are nine rooms arranged around a central courtyard filled with orange, lemon and pomegranate trees and a gurgling fountain. All the rooms are very different from each other (all air-conditioned with bath or shower). Room No. 3 has its own private and very pretty terrace. Room No.9 also has a private terrace with a fountain as well as an anteroom with a single bed.
Riad Kaiss is located in an attractive, high-walled, narrow derb (alley) in the southern part of the old city and only a short walk from the Jemaa El Fna Square, the Bahia and El Badii Palaces, the Mellah (old Jewish Quarter) and the Saadien Tombs.
The decor is traditional Moroccan with earthy ochre walls, vibrant paintwork, jade zelige tiling and stylish furniture. The colours used are very cheering and fresh.
Breakfast is served in your room, on the roof-terrace or around the main courtyard - as you prefer. Dinner can be prepared at the riad on request (traditional Moroccan or international).
There is a cool plunge pool on the roof and a small fitness room. There is also a hammam for relaxing afterwards, as well as two comfortable salons each with open fireplaces.

Calm, peaceful place in the heart of the Medina. Breakfast bread to die for, lovely staff, nothing was too much trouble. Owner, Christine, fabulous. No sun but it didn't matter! P.J. in March 2009
Staying at a Riad was a complete change from a 'normal' hotel and a lovely experience. Having breakfast served on the rooftop balcony while looking out over Marrakesh and listening to the birds was lovely. J.C. in January 2009
