Riad Charai in Marrakech

This riad was once owned by the private-secretary of the Pasha Glaoui; a larger than normal area gives it a spacious and airy feel. It is located next to the Zaouia mosque, 15 minutes from the Jamaa el Fnaa.
The large inner courtyard is laid with beijamatte tiles and planted with fragrant orange trees, palms, bamboo & cacti and features the traditional fountain.
Two large roof terraces offer views over Marrakech and the Atlas mountains.
The riad facilities include a 9x4m pool, lounge with fireplace, dining area set around a fireplace and a spa with a hammam, massage room, and another fireplace. Wi-fi is available throughout.
An in-house cook prepares Moroccan and international food from an a-la-carte menu. The Charai does not have alcholic drinks, however you may take your own in for dinner.
The nine rooms are air-conditioned and have satellite television, mini-bar, safe, telephone and hair-driers. The suites each have a fireplace.
The Riad will provide upto 4 transfers to the Medina or Gualiz areas of Marrakech, at a cost of 25 Euros.

Feedback and reviews
the trip lived up to all our expectations and was an adventure as well as a holiday. the riad charai was charming and welcoming and there were no problems. we fully explored the medina and took 2 tours. E.B. in November 2008
We loved the riad itself - it was a beautiful building with a wonderful courtyard, very friendly staff and a great (and nice and quiet!) atmosphere. However, we did have concerns about the location - the riad was to the north of the main square and main sweep of riads and we felt as if we were a bit 'out of things' in terms of getting to places etc. We also felt rather vulnerable when we left the riad as we stood out as tourists in an area where there were not many.
