Luxury Riad Al Moussika in Marrakech

This Marrakech riad, once a residence of the former Pasha of Marrakech, has been refurbished to an extremely high standard with painstaking respect for the Andalusian style and enormous attention to comfort details. The main courtyard has an Andalusian-style swimming pool, thirteen metres long, cutting through it, a huge bougainvillea and two cypress trees soaring to the sky, all distracting you from the fact that you're actually in the heart of the medina.

Each room is individually and beautifully decorated. Downstairs, there is a large music-reception room with an art deco Pleyel grand piano and a hi-fi system, a fireplace and comfortable chairs, for cosy evenings of reading and relaxing.
There are two dining rooms - one with a long parade table in cedar with twelve places, and the other Moroccan-style with the typical sofas, cushions, carpets, small oriental tables and chairs. Please note that if you wish to eat in the riad, dinner must be requested 24 hours in advance.
The various loggias have armchairs and tea tables, and there is also a library with books predominantly on Moroccan art and history. The riad has two terraces, partially sheltered by wooden pergolas, where guests can sunbathe on cushioned armchairs and teak chaises-long. One of the terraces has a pavilion with Moroccan sofas, cushions and lamps, should guests prefer a more intimate space. There is a hammam with massage on request.

Lovely Riad - good food and very helpful staff - The Manager was particularly nice and attentive. Riad quiet at night and only about 10 mins from the bustle of the square & Souks. Watch the mopeds on the narrow streets there are some mad drivers. Tour guides can take you to expensive shops in the hope of getting commission. When buying start by offering 25% of the asking price. Watch out for "buy one get one free" as you may be charged for the lot at the till! The trips run by "The Best of Morocco" are good value and the Atlas Mountain Trips are a must. The Hammam at the Riad is a great experience not to be missed! R.S. in April 2010
We had a wonderful holiday in Marrakech. Your recommendation of Al Moussika was excellent. It is in an ideal location, it is run extremely well, everyone was very friendly and positively helpful, the physical accommodation was lovely with good facilities and lots of variety and space, and the fare was delicious. We visited one or two other Riads, mainly larger, and always decided that we were extremely happy where we were. It felt like home. We would recommend it to anybody without hesitation for anyone NOT wanting the highlife and glitz of a large modern hotel; we will certainly return. Some people may find it expensive - we are happy to pay for simple but interesting luxury with excellent service, which is what we got. R.B. in March 2010
