Berber is best

Ask anyone at Best of Morocco to name their favourite place in the country and the answer is almost always the same - Tigmi. The company sells a whole range of chic riads and kasbahs but this simple Berber house created out of four village dwellings between Marrakech and the Atlas mountains comes out top.

Why? "Architecturally it's beautiful - there are lots of nooks and crannies so even when it's full you can walk around and not see anyone. And at this time of year, the normally brown hills become a lush verdant green. It's got a tower where you can have tea in the early morning or late afternoon when the hills appear to glow. It's a magical place," says managing director Steve Deiderich.
