Films in Morocco
The wide variety of landscapes across Morocco (Atlas mountains, Mediterranean & Atlantic coasts and the dunes of the Sahara Desert) have made Morocco an extremely popular location for filming. Some of the more famous films include Othello, Lawrence of Arabia, Gladiator, Alexander and Hideous Kinkey. The larger studios are based near Ouarzazate.
The Marrakech International Film Festival takes place annually. The members of the past juries (Roman Polanski, Martin Scorsese, Francis Ford Coppola, David Lynch, Jean Moreau) reflect the importance of Morocco as a film location.
