A small town at the edge of the Sahara, about 5 hours of lovely driving from Ouarzazate and 8 hours from Marrakech. Quieter than other dune locations such as Merzouga, you can stay here and take trips out into the Sahara, or go out to one of the camps on the dunes themselves.
