Hotel Kasbah Tamadot in Asni

Situated in the spectacular Atlas Mountains in Morocco only 50 minutes from Marrakech, the award-winning Kasbah Tamadot offers stunning views. To the north extends a steep river valley, with sheer rocky limestone and forested mountains on either side, in contrast to the view of the breathtaking snow-capped peaks of the Atlas Mountains on the southern side. To the east, across the river, you can see a traditional Berber village built into the side of the mountain. Within the protective grounds is a beautiful garden of fruit trees, a collection of cacti and a rambling rose garden.
Kasbah Tamadot employs local Berber staff from the surrounding villages, giving guests a sense of staying in a Moroccan home rather than a hotel.
The extensive grounds are filled with staircases, courtyards and gardens. Getting yourself orientated will be time consuming but exciting! On the ground level are two internal courtyards, an indoor pool, the Virgin Touch Salon, the Hammam and access to the outdoor pool and The Studio. A main stair leads up to a traditional Moroccan painted courtyard that surrounds a deep blue reflecting pool on the first floor. Opening from here are a series of bedrooms, a Guest Salon & Library and the restaurant. From our outdoor pool you can meander along pretty garden paths to our tennis courts. The roof top, complete with breathtaking views and a rooftop seating area where drinks can be served.
Spend time at the indoor pool and spa area. Here a dark blue tiled pool offers views to the lushly planted garden outside, with loungers around the edge. Off the pool room is a traditional Moroccan Hammam and sauna. There is a shower and changing rooms, along with two treatment rooms. These have been designed to create a truly relaxing experience and use a combination of tiles, timber and low lighting.
With an intimate fireside bar for pre-dinner cocktails, a stunning dining area complete with terrace dining and breathtaking views, Kanoun restaurant serves delicious local and international cuisine.
The restaurant Combines local produce and flavours with continental ideas and a great selection of international and Moroccan wines. Kanoun is open for all hotel guests for and casual lunch diners on request. Feedback and reviews
After an hour long transfer from the city we arrived at what can only be described as paradise on Earth. It is an oasis of calm and tranquility in the middle of the beautiful Atlas Mountains. It is the sort of place where you have to pinch yourself to know it is for real. We had a beautiful room, with our son having the tower room which was directly above us, set apart from the main building which gave us splendid views both up and down the valley. Every eventuality was covered for in our rooms-from the Bose to allow you to listen to soothing music to your own slippers to relax in to the umbrella just in case the weather turned a little inclement. You were made to feel important and welcoming on every occasion and nothing seemed too much effort .All the staff from the Berbers to the English couple who managed the Kasbah were open and friendly and always had the time of day for you. Every evening meal was different as we used various locations around the Kasbah but wherever we ate it resplendent with its floral decorations, excellent service and fine dining. If you go nowhere else in the world you must go to Kasbah Tamadot at least once but then you would want to go back again to make sure you weren't just dreaming!! D.B. in August 2009
An amazing place. Slightly surreal. We loved the mule ride excursion and the feeling that the Kasbah did a great deal for the local community. Room was not huge, but the bath was! Amazing antique furnishings - ceilings from India, for example. Great breakfasts. Decent food otherwise. T.W. in May 2008
