Dar Itrane in Ait Bougmez Valley
Meaning 'The House of Stars' due to the view of the Milky Way from the terrace, the Dar Itrane is a small lodging near Imelghas dedicated to ecotourism - minimising its effect on the enviroment and working with the local population.
The Dar Itrane has 17 rooms (2 family sized) each with private bathroom with bath and shower. There are two Moroccan style living rooms, a roof terrace and covered patio for relaxing. A traditional hammam is available (charged locally).
Food is cooked by the chef inspired by the local Berber traditions.
The Dar Itrane is an eco-lodge with the intention of protecting and enhancing the Berber culture. The residents of the Ait Bougmez Valley maintain Berber mountain traditions: families organized around the patriarch system, a society of sharing, the Tamazight language, fortified Ighrem granaries, and agrarianism (happy life based on farming). Hot water in the ecolodge is mostly generated by solar power.
The Dar Itrane offers excursions to discover the Berber lifestyle, the surrounding landscape and the architecture.
The altitude of the Eco-lodge makes it a good place to be in the Summer (without the neccessity of air-conditioning), while in January and February there can be snow.
Dar Itrane does not serve alcohol, you may bring your own (eg from Marrakech).
Free nights, upgrades, hammam & massage and honeymoon special offers.
