Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 : Marrakech arrival

Winston Churchil described it to Roosevelt in 1943 as 'the loveliest spot in the world'. Marrakesh is the work of two dynasties: the Almoravides from the Sahara who founded the city in 1062 & the Almouahades dynasty from the Atlas Mountains who conquered the city in 1147 and became rapidly one of the most important dynasties in the Islam world. The city is famous for its pink color, palaces, museums, mosques and market. An afternoon half day guided city tour of Marrakech will describe its magnificent history and take us to the old Medina surrounded by magic mud walls. A morning visit to the Koutoubia Minaret - the twin sister of Al Jeralda in Seville in Spain, and the lovely gardens next to it will bring you back to the 12th century in history. Followed by a visit to the Saadian tombs and the Bahaia palace, you will then be brought back hundreds of years to realize the genius of those people creating art masterpieces with very simple tools. Onto Jemaa El Fna square - truly a talking painting with arrays of food, snake charmers, music players and fortune tellers - to put some magic in the visitor's senses! Dinner at Riad.

Day 2 : Marrakech

After breakfast, we will leave for a local market in the old medina for food shopping and spices needed for cooking dinner. Return to the Riad and Lunch on your own. Meeting at 5pm to get ready for the cooking class. Dinner in the riad featuring the dishes taught at the cooking demonstration. Overnight at Riad.

Day 3 : Marrakech

A similar schedule to day 2, of course with a different menu.

Day 4 : Marrakech/Ouirgane - Marrakech

After breakfast, departure to Ouirgane. Located at the foothills of the Atlas Mountains (about 90 minutes drive from Marrakech with a gentle winter climate, moderate in summer. This is the heart of Berber countryside with picturesque villages and hamlets, forests, fruit trees (orange, lime, lemon, grapefruit), and rose gardens. Lunch and visits then return to Marrakech for overnight at Riad.

Day 5 : Marrakech

Day at leisure to explore this wonderful city.

Day 6 : Marrakech - Essaouira - Marrakech

After breakfast as a group, visit the fascinating seaside resort of Essaouira - Old Mogador. Essaouira is the city that mystically fascinates the Artists, the authors and the musicians all over the world. In fact, Essaouira has many things to offer to the visitor. The attractiveness of Essaouira is also due to its history, architecture, cultural treasures, curving sandy beaches, its stunning combination of ocean views, artisan charters and its big fishing port.
