Chez Momo Hotel in Ouirgane

Chez Momo is located in the heart of some of the most beautiful mountain countryside next to the Berber village of Ouirgane (40 miles south of Marrakech - about 1 hour 15 mins drive) and on the road leading to the Tiz n'Test Pass.
This is a small and charming auberge with 5 simple but comfortable rooms with fireplace and basic heating (no air-conditioning) as well as a shower and wash basin. There is a restaurant where dinner is served and colourful gardens surrounding the property. The auberge also has a swimming pool with terraces for relaxation and sunbathing.
Walks and mule-trekking in the surrounding countryside and Berber hamlets can be organised with local French-Speaking guides.
This is an ideal location for those seeking quite and solitude in a rural setting of the High Atlas Mountains and who do not require or seek any kind of sophistication. The staff are friendly and welcoming but it should be noted that they may be somewhat laid-back and the word "urgency" has little meaning at this quiet hideaway.

This was our favourite hotel of the trip. It is so pretty and romantic, with fireplaces in the bedrooms, a lovely garden with many different flowers, olive trees etc; many original touches to the decor and good food. We felt that if the owner could raise the standard of the food by a notch, this hotel would be permanently full! Rating 5/5. MvdW in November 2009
Chez Momo is absolutely charming; there are minor shortcomings but because the staff, and Momo himself, are so hospitable and willing to help these small faults almost added to the charm. Having seen and had lunch at La Roseraie, I am very pleased indeed that BoM recommended Chez Momo to us. We found the countryside peaceful and beautiful, the local people in Ouiregane friendly, kind and generous. It was a great introduction to a country that was new to us and we all hope to return at some point. J.A. in November 2009
