Treks And Excursions

The Bab Ourika offers a range of treks from easy walks and picnics in the immediate locality, to longer treks exploring the nearby unspoilt National Park. There are also a variety of car exursions and other activities available.

The Treks

For treks 3-6 the Kasbah can arrange an individual picnic lunch (150dh per person) or special lunches set up in advance by the Kasbah team (300dh per person). The Kasbah will provide an experienced English-speaking mountain guide, a muleteer, and a mule to carry supplies and a picnic lunch and a larger team for the special lunches.

Arrival trek

As you arrive, the guide will meet you at the start of the road to the Kasbah, and lead you on the 1 hour walk through the villages and olive groves upto the Kasbah for Lunch. 150dh per person.

Trek 1 - Tourite

A gentle stroll taking in the surrounding areas of the Kasbah, visiting the Berber villages of Akhlij, El Haddad and Takatert. 150dh per person.

Trek 2 - Tnine Ourika

Walk through the surrounding villages to Tnine Ourika where the local market is held every Monday. Visit Bio Aromatique Gardens called Nectarome at Akhlij el Haddad and the local saffron gardens at Takatent. Transfer back to the Kasbah for lunch. 2-3 hours, 150dh per person.

Trek 3 - Timalizen

Walking south along the river from the Kasbah you will pass through three Berber villages of Timalizen, Tamzendent, Tourirt. 4 hours, 300dh per person

Trek 4 - The forest

Forest and mountain views and pass through 2 Berber villages on the edge of the national park. 4 hours, 300dh per person.

Trek 5 - Akhlij

Pass through Akhilij and Tagadirt, and on through the forest towards Tourit. 5/6 hours, 350dh per person.

Trek 6 - Isfel

Into the national park, to the Berber village of Isfel where you can stop to sample the local cuisine for lunch. 4x4 transfer back to the Kasbah. 6 hours, 350dh per person.
