Atta Saharan Camp in Merzouga
The Atta Saharan Camp is located in the heart of the Ait Atta tribe territories. It provides an in-depth discovery of the nomadic tribes of the Berber Culture in a wonderful area located only six hours from Ouarzazate. It is environmentally friendly, having strict waste, water and energy management.
The surroundings are the stunning landscapes of the Saharan Desert: sand dunes, tassilis and canyons. The camp is arranged according to the ancient architectural traditions of nomadic tribes of Morocco, and provides a high level of modern comfort.
There are 10 comfortably furnished twin room tents and a spacious and comfortable centrally located cultural tent to relax, share experiences and learn about the Berbers (there is a chest library offering a variety of books and music on the vibrant culture of the nomadic tribes of Ait Atta and Ait Khabbash). Shower and bathroom tents are located apart from the tented rooms; hot water is available.
Included in the price is traditional Berber food (Full board), a selection of activities including trekking, short walks or 4-wheel drive excursions and an introduction to living in the desert with an english-speaking guide during which you will learn to make tea and taguela (flat bread, similar to naan), and working with camels.
Due to the heat this camp is not generally open in summertime - it re-opens in mid-October.
